This page is dedicated to our daughter Emily who was diagnosed with type I diabetes in September 1998.
ALL funds raised in association with this page will be
donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Type I (or juvenile) diabetes is caused by the destruction of insulin producing (beta) cells in the pancreas. People with this type of diabetes MUST inject insulin into their bodies to stay alive. These injections are taken 2 to 4 times a day or continuously through an insulin "pump".
They also must draw blood 4 or more times per day (usually by pricking a finger) for glucose testing
